The 4in Samsung Galaxy Beam Projector, an Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) smartie packing a 15 lumens projector.
Back in February we got our first look and hands on with the Samsung Galaxy Beam, the world’s first smartphone with a micro projector inside. Well, we now have a definite SIM-free price for the light-chucking blower: £429.99.
The Galaxy Beam, announced at Mobile World Congress, has popped up for pre-order on Expansys. It’s a 12.5mm-thick Android 2.3 Gingerbread phone with a 1GHz dual-core processor, 8GB of built-in storage, 4-inch screen and a 15 lumen pico projector for beaming videos, photos and more onto the nearest available surface.
Unfortunately the retailer hasn’t yet specified a release date for the light-chucking handset. Previously, we'd heard it would be launched in July 2012 – but when we hear more we’ll let you know.
Samsung’s busted out its first phone of this year’s Mobile World Congress – the 4in Samsung Galaxy Beam, an Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) smartie packing a 15 lumens projector.
Riding a 1GHz dual-core processor (presumably the same one hiding out in the just-launched Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1) the Galaxy Beam’s also packing a pair of cams on which to snap pictures to share on the nearest flat, white wall. The 5MP rear snapper is accompanied by an LED flash, while a 1.3MP front-facer will look after video chatting and vanity pics.
We’ll be getting our mitts on the Samsung Galaxy Beam in due course as part of our wider Mobile World Congress coverage.
